Chemistry is the study of the composition and reactions of substances. The study of chemistry can apply to a wide variety of fields, including forensic science, environmental studies, the development and testing of medicines, chemical engineering, agriculture and food processing, and research into new energy sources.

Major Requirements

A new general studies curriculum was approved by the Gallaudet faculty on June 25, 2007. Students entering in Fall 2007 follow the new curriculum. An introduction to the new General Studies Curriculum is online, presented in ASL and English.

Requirements to Continue in the Major

For continuation in the major, the student must maintain a cumulative degree average of 2.0 or better in chemistry courses numbered 300 and above.
